I'M DONE!!!!
I finally finished reading Catcher in the Rye and I actually kind of enjoyed the ending. At first, when he left Mr. Antolini's house and he talked of running away, I thought that he really was going to go. I was worried about how Phoebe would react to Holden leaving and I got really sympathetic towards her, but when she showed up with the suitcase and Holden decided to remain with his family, I was relieved. I think I was so relieved when Holden decided to not run away because I actually believed in what Mr. Antolini said about Holden dying nobly if he continued to live the way he did. At the end of the book, I think Holden actually learned a thing or two from the time he spent acting all depressed. I think Phoebe really made him realize that he needed to change his way of living. The book didn't really have a climax that stood out but I enjoyed how the book ended.
Catcher in the Rye 3/4
I'm three fourth of the way done with reading Catcher in the Rye. Holden finally gets the courage to go to his house and see Phoebe, his little sister. I really enjoyed this part because it was a rare moment in the book when Holden was actually happy about his life and I could understand why because Phoebe cares so much about him. However, other than this part, the book has been no different from the previous pages. The entire book so far has been based around Holden and the couple of days he's spent drinking and slouching around after being expelled from college. I personally don't see where this book is going. I just hope that at the end, Holden gets a hold on himself and he finds out what he really wants to do with his life.

Catcher in the Rye
I enjoy the book the Catcher in the Rye and I am able to read the book with extreme focus easily. I enjoy the book because it is very realistic, and that makes it is easier for me to picture the situation in my mind. Also, I believe that the author adds realism into the book through the use of profane language. Most of the books that I have read so far in my life have been books that regard profane language as something not worthy of being published. However, the Catcher in the Rye disregards that and in reality, many people use profane language. I am not saying that an excess amount of profane language is bad, but by using the necessary amount, J.D. Salinger is able to bring life to his book. Though much of the book is enjoyable, I do not enjoy the fact that there is no end result to aim for. The story so far has been based on a man dropping out of college, going to a hotel in New York, and drinking his time away. From what I have read so far, I feel as if there is no final goal to reach for. The Catcher in the Rye is like no other book that I have read before and I am looking forward to the second half of reading.
